Yuya Sumiyama

From a childhood dream to work in the car business and attend motorsport events, through high school being too young to drive, Yuya was heavily into radio controlled cars as a compromise. His father was a Dirt Trial driver with Yuya getting into the passenger seat whenever he could until he began driving himself at age 19.

Yuya became a Japan Rally Championship (JRC) driver. In 2001 he won the Japan Dirt Trial Championship (JDC) at age 25 before joining the Carrosser Rally Team.

 

Sumiyama's co-driver in 2010 is Naoki KASE, who was Takuma Kamada's co-driver in the 2008 APRC.



In 2010 Yuya is driving for the CUSCO Rally Team along with Hiroshi Yanagisawa.
