APRC 2010 Regulations
23 Feb 2010

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Further updates on APRC 2010.
APRC 2010 Regulations

  • As advised previously there are some errors in the revision to the 2010 Regional Rally Regulations, including the APRC.
  • Article 5.7 - Minimum Participation Requirements -  should read  - 6 nominated events of which at least 5 must be contested
  • If you are aware of any other regulations that appear to be confusing, please let me know and I will attempt to have these addressed when the regulations are up for review again at end of 2010.
  • A reminder of the ability to apply for a "Wild Card" entry  for APRC which provides for competitors to be "registered" on their home event, start with the registered competitors and score APRC points. If subsequent events are contested, and you wish to score points, you are then required to complete the usual registration process and pay the required registration fee.  Nominations for a Wild Card entry must be done through your ASN and accepted by the APRC Executive.

Registration Form

  • A revised registration form  is attached here, reflecting the reduced registration fee if completed and submitted by 28 February 2010. Further details available on the APRC website http://www.fiaaprc.com/
  • Please note the cut off dates for registration for APRC, Asia Cup and Pacific Cup.
  • If you need clarification of these dates, please contact me directly
Malaysian Rally

  • Supplementary Regulations  for this event are due to be available from Friday 5 March . I will advise when these are available, but please continue to check the event website  http://www.malaysianrally.com/
  • As previously advised there are some changes to the Rally HQ/Hotel location and the pre-event service area/service park used during the event.
  • If you have any questions on these changes, please contact me directly.
Rally Hokkaido

Fuel Supply

  • A reminder that if you are wanting supplies of FIA approved fuel at the first 2 events of APRC 2010 (Malaysia and Japan), I will need to have your orders in place very soon to ensure supply at the event service park. Please do not leave this until the last minute for ordering as it could result in additional freight charges, or potentially no fuel available for your team. Please let me know as soon as possible with your orders.
APRC Star Driver Programme

  • An announcement regarding the young driver programme for drivers in the APRC region is expected to be made in early March.
Vehicles available

  • Further to my previous update, I have been advised of other rally cars that are available, for lease or for purchase for APRC competition.  These include European based S2000 cars as well as regionally based Gp N cars. If you would like further information on any of these options, please let me know and I will send the information and contact details to you directly.
As further information becomes available I will pass it on via these updates. If you require any further information on any aspect of APRC, the events, logistics or general information, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Information is also available on the APRC website http://www.fiaaprc.com/

2010 Regulations
16 Dec 2009

Dear Friends & Colleagues,
Another year, and another successful  APRC rally season has now been completed, the 22nd year this championship has been run.
While it can not be denied that 2009 has been a very challenging year, on many levels for teams, drivers, organizers and all team personnel, the year has ended in a positive atmosphere.  The year ahead, 2010, looks full of promise with signs of economic recovery and interest in APRC promising for a good year of competition.
For the last couple of weeks, and since returning from China Rally, I have been plagued by computer glitches and consequently have been unable to get some information out to you as quickly as I would have preferred.
Compounding this situation is my decision to join the dark side;  and get an Apple computer. Its early days yet, but am confident I can make this work OK!! The only down side so far is taking the time to learn how this new computer thinks....and learn new software skills that are  required. Just goes to prove, you can teach an old dog new tricks!!
If you notice any discrepancies in the format or layout of this update, please let me know, as I am still learning this beast and welcome any and all feedback.
2010 APRC Regulations

  • The 2010 APRC Regulations  are now available, and have attached a copy here. These are the full FIA 2010 Regional Rally Regulations with the regulations specifically for APRC included as Appendix V4.
  • There are some small changes from previous years, some of which I will highlight here
  • the introduction of wild cards  (Art 5.5.7) which allows for local drivers to score points - wild card registrations are at the discretion of the APRC Executive
  • Minimum participation (APRC Art 5.7) - I believe this is incorrect - should read "6 nominated events of which at least 5 must be contested" - am following up on this
  • Road surface (APRC Art 8.5) - allows for tarmac stages , no more than 60% of distance between service points
  • Nationality flags  for drivers and codrivers (Art 16) will be the nationality of the ASN issuing their licence  , both on side window and front wing
  • Lateness before exclusion  (Art 30.1)between TC's has been increased to 30 minutes - remains at 30 minutes total for each Day
  • Onboard safety tracking systems  (Art 36.7) are now compulsory for all FIA Regional Rally Championships
  • Start order  changes for Day 2 & Day 3 (if applicable) - (Art 41.1)  - order determined by performance from Day 1 (& Day 2)
  • Registration fees for drivers and codrivers (Art 5.6) - if paid before 28 February 2010 - Euro 130 per driver/codriver - Euro 212 per after this date. Registration fee for each entrant is Euro 212, irrespective of when paid.
  • Registration form attached here, or available on the APRC website www.fiaaprc.com

APRC Asia & Pacific Cups

  • A quick reminder that in 2010 we will again be offering the Asia and Pacific Cups  as supplementary competitions in APRC. (details of registration are available - as attached)
  • With the first 2 rounds of APRC being Asia Cup rounds as well, teams will need to think carefully about their strategies for the Cups, and ensure they do not miss the close off date for registration for the Cups. (in each case, by the close of entries for the first nominated round of each Cup)
2010 APRC Brochures

  • You should all be aware that we have hard copies of the 2010 APRC brochure available . If you would like some copies sent to you, please let me know and send your full postal address along with your postal code.
  • As usual these are a very high quality production and will enhance any proposal you are looking to put in front of potential sponsors.
  • Also available is a low resolution email file  (4.5 MB) that I can email to you on request. (Also available on the APRC website)
APRC promotional tools

  • Brian Young of APRC.tv has made available video footage on Youtube at the following link  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhFzM_ZkBNQ
  • Brian has also had a TV branding analysis done on video coverage (limited) of APRC. This information can be provided to you, for promotional requirements, by contacting Brian directly brian@apsm.tv  or myself
Pirelli Star Driver programme

  • I am still expecting this young driver programme to be continuing in 2010, as it has for the previous 2 years, identifying young driver talent in the regional championships.
  • Most of you will be aware that the programme is an outcome of negotiations between the FIA and the tyre manufacturer supplying control tyres for the WRC. This WRC tyre supply contract is currently under review. An announcement on the tyre supplier for WRC, and the Star Driver programme is not expected until early February 2010. I will attempt to keep you informed of developments in this area.
Seasons Greetings

  • As we come to the end of yet another year, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you

.....A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and  A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR IN 2010.....
Good Rallying, and look forward to seeing you all on event somewhere in 2010.
As always, if I can provide any further information to you on any aspect of APRC, please do not hesitate to ask.
If you would like to be removed from my distribution list, please simply reply to this email and put REMOVE in the subject line.
Kind Regards

I am well aware that many teams are still in the process of finalizing plans for APRC 2009, and the current economic situation that is no doubt impacting on teams sponsor involvement. However, interest in our series has been at the highest level for some years, despite current uncertainties. With this position, I am confident of a strong field for this year, with some new faces to add to the excitement.

I understand that many of you are still to confirm your participation in APRC 2009, however, I would encourage you to complete your registrations in plenty of time before the close of registrations. This to allow for confirmation of your registration and for suitable logistics to be put in place for your team equipment.

Rally Queensland: I was fortunate enough to be hosted by the organizers of this event late in January, where I was shown the various venues and locations for this new APRC event. The organizing team is a very experienced and motivated team and I am confident that this will be a very successful event. There are still a few details to confirm and expect more information to be available from the organizers very soon. We are currently working on some of the logistics issues and will be in a position to confirm these arrangements within the next 2-3 weeks. As the programme develops it has been necessary to rationalize some of the conditions and requirements to make them consistent across all 4 FIA Regional Championships.  There are some changes from 2008
