Update 29 March, 2010
29 Mar 2010
Monday 29 March 2010
Dear Friends & Colleagues,
A few reminders regarding upcoming events.
APRC & Asia Cup Registrations
Registrations for APRC and Asia Cup - if Malaysian Rally is your first nominated event - these close with the close of entries for Malaysian Rally. This date is Friday 2 April. As this is Easter Friday, I would strongly recommend that registrations and entries are completed before this date. Ideally this should be no later than Thursday 1 April.
Registration fees are payable direct to the FIA - details available on the registration form on APRC website http://www.fiaaprc.com/ or I can send you a copy.
Completed registration forms should be sent to the APRC secretariat - details on registration form.
If Rally Hokkaido is your first nominated event for APRC or Asia Cup, registrations should be completed by Wednesday 28 April.
Malaysian Rally
As advised, import customs inspections are scheduled to take place in the Angsana Service Park on Monday 19 April.
Export customs inspections are scheduled to take place in the evening of Sunday 25 April, at the Angsana Service Park.
It will be critical that all teams are on site for these inspections, in particular the export inspections.
A reminder that entries for Malaysian Rally close on Friday 2nd April
Rally Hokkaido
Supplementary Regulations are available on the event website http://www.rally-hokkaido.com
APRC and Regional Rally Regulations
A slightly revised version of the FIA 2010 Regional Rally Regulations (RRR) are available on the APRC website (http://www.fiaaprc.com/), or the FIA website (www.fia.com). I can provide copies if requested. Please update your files.
There have been several questions raised about the mandatory use of tracking devices on APRC events. An announcement on this will be made in next few days.
Wild Card entries
A reminder for any driver who wishes to be considered a Wild Card entry for your home event, application must be made through your ASN, before the close of entries for your home event. There is no cost involved with this, unless you wish to compete at subsequent APRC events and continue to score APRC, Asia Cup or Pacific Cup points.
If you require any further information on this, please contact your ASN, or myself.
International Rally of Whangarei
Supplementary Regulations are now available on the event website http://www.rallywhangarei.co.nz
APRC Star Driver
Further to my earlier advice regarding this programme, the latest information I have is that an announcement will be made in early April.
As this programme is tied in with the control tyre contract for WRC, it has taken longer to finalize than anticipated.
I understand that the qualification and selection format may be different to what we have seen in previous years. As information becomes available, I will pass it on to you.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Kind Regards,
Murray Brown

APRC 2010 Regulations
23 Feb 2010
Further updates on APRC 2010.
- As advised previously there are some errors in the revision to the 2010 Regional Rally Regulations, including the APRC.
- Article 5.7 - Minimum Participation Requirements - should read - 6 nominated events of which at least 5 must be contested
- If you are aware of any other regulations that appear to be confusing, please let me know and I will attempt to have these addressed when the regulations are up for review again at end of 2010.
- A reminder of the ability to apply for a
"Wild Card" entry for APRC which provides for competitors to be "registered" on their home event, start with the registered competitors and score APRC points. If subsequent events are contested, and you wish to score points, you are then required to complete the usual registration process and pay the required registration fee. Nominations for a Wild Card entry must be done through your ASN and accepted by the APRC Executive.
- A revised
registration form is attached here, reflecting the reduced registration fee if completed and submitted by 28 February 2010. Further details available on the APRC website http://www.fiaaprc.com/ - Please note the cut off dates for registration for APRC, Asia Cup and Pacific Cup.
If you need clarification of these dates, please contact me directly .
Supplementary Regulations for this event are due to be available from Friday 5 March . I will advise when these are available, but please continue to check the event website http://www.malaysianrally.com/ - As previously advised there are some changes to the Rally HQ/Hotel location and the pre-event service area/service park used during the event.
- If you have any questions on these changes, please contact me directly.
Rally Guide 1 is available on the event website http://www.rally-hokkaido.com or I can send you a copy if requested.
- A reminder that if you are wanting supplies of FIA approved fuel at the first 2 events of APRC 2010 (Malaysia and Japan), I will need to have your orders in place very soon to ensure supply at the event service park. Please do not leave this until the last minute for ordering as it could result in additional freight charges, or potentially no fuel available for your team. Please let me know as soon as possible with your orders.
- An announcement regarding the young driver programme for drivers in the APRC region is expected to be made in early March.
- Further to my previous update, I have been advised of other rally cars that are available, for lease or for purchase for APRC competition. These include European based S2000 cars as well as regionally based Gp N cars. If you would like further information on any of these options, please let me know and I will send the information and contact details to you directly.
